From the Principal!

Greetings!  My name is Wade E. Bell and I'm the principal of David Skeet Elementary School in Vanderwagen, NM.  David Skeet is going into the second year of some major changes.  The school is one of the first six schools in Gallup-McKinley County Schools to be part of the University of Virginia-Darden School of Business' turnaround project (There are now thirteen).  To be chosen, the school had to show a severe need which was the "D/F" designation from the New Mexico Public Education Department (NM PED).  This "D/F" designation is not set in stone and can and will improve.  The district, the state, and the University of Virginia is pouring resources and training into David Skeet to help students succeed.  This turnaround process is hard and requires a lot of work on the part of the staff and students.  However, the reward will be students who are well educated and ready to take on life as well rounded learners.  For further information text me at wbell@gmcs.k12.nm.us.
